JIM BARRY

Jim Barry, named after the eponymous founding wine maker, is one of the stalwart wineries of the Clare Valley. In 1959 the late Jim Barry purchased land near the township of Clare, replanting much of it to vineyard, and ultimately building his own winery in 1973. He quickly built a fine reputation for his wines, not least the Armagh Shiraz which has achieved extraordinary success and is regarded as one of the finest Shirazes in the country. The Armagh vineyard was named after the nearby town of Armagh, established by Irish settlers around 1859. Jim Barry planted it in 1968 with Shiraz clones originally sourced from Israel. Jim Barry Wines has an innovative approach to viticulture and a strong commitment to technological excellence in winemaking. This philosophy is fundamental to the company's ability to consistently produce award-winning wines of the highest quality.
