RIDGE
Monte Bello Chardonnay, Santa Cruz Mts 2013

TASTING NOTES

"A true gem, the 2013 Chardonnay Monte Bello, which was barrel fermented and aged 17 months in mostly American oak, offers sensational notes of white peach, citrus blossom, mint, ginger and baking spices. It’s a big, rich wine, yet it never puts a foot wrong, is impeccably balanced and stays fresh, pure and focused. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or more. " Wine Advocate 95 pts

RIDGE

Although Ridge Vineyards was founded in the early 1960s, wine production at the winery's Monte Bello location has a much longer history; the first version of the renowned Monte Bello wine was produced by a prominent Italian immigrant in 1892. More than 100 years later, the 1971 Monte Bello Cabernet Sauvignon achieved international fame for winning the controversial "Judgement of Paris" wine tasting in 2006, outclassing some of the best Bordeaux wines and other top Napa Cabernets. Today, Ridge is known for extraordinary Cabernet, Zinfandel and Chardonnay that rely on nature and tradition rather than technology. The approach is straightforward: Find intense, flavorful grapes; intrude upon the winemaking process only when necessary, and draw the fruit's distinctive character and richness into the wine.
